Theo’s Law Moves Into Legislative Drafting Discussions
On May 21, 2026, Theo’s family received an update from the office of Georgia State Senator Drew Echols regarding the proposed Theo’s Law. His office stated that Senator Echols had spoken with Georgia Legislative Counsel and that the proposal’s language was being recrafted to fit within existing Georgia law and into legislative form. The communication also explained that new legislation could not be introduced until the 2027 legislative session begins. For Theo’s family, the update marked an important step in moving the effort from an idea born from one family’s experience toward proposed legislative language being developed for consideration in Georgia.
